The feed manufactured for Seaboard Foods pigs is made by seven feed mills, located in  Holyoke, Colo.; Hugoton, Kan.; Iowa Falls, Iowa; Leoti, Kan.; Okeene, Okla.; Optima, Okla.; and Perryton, Texas.

The feed mills, run by 176 employees, produce 2.4 million tons of animal feed per year.

Once the grain gets to the feed mill, it is ground, mixed and/or pelleted. Pelleted feed is 5% more efficient for pig feed. Feed efficiency means fewer ingredients produce the same amount of pork.

The feed mill makes 15 proprietary rations from grain, which have to pass strict quality standards.

Different rations are used to support the animals' nutritional requirements throughout different stages of the pigs’ lives.
