About Our Management Trainee Programs

The management trainee program is specifically designed for recent graduates or those entering the industry to gain knowledge and training in our connected food system. Work full time and hone your skills as a management trainee to prepare for advanced roles at our company, which may include the direct management of people, a process or an area of operation. Through mentorship and hands-on training, develop your professional and leadership skills in a role that allows you to make an impact in the food industry.

What You Can Expect

  • Training that prepares you for a supervisory or technical role of responsibility that allows you to make an impact in a comapany
  • Spend eight to 16 months learning our business and developing your skills to advance your career in the company

Colin's Story

After serving in the Marine Corps, Colin joined Seaboard Foods as a farm management trainee with no experience with pigs, but experience with people. He appreciated the help he received transitioning as a newcomer to the pork industry and enjoys the benefits, pay and assistance offered by Seaboard Foods.

 


Emily's Story

Learning has always been important to Emily, especially when it came to choosing her career. Seaboard Foods allowed Emily to experience a variety of operations and select her specialty based on her interests and skills. 

 


Cheyenne's Story

Cheyenne began at Seaboard Foods as an intern where she experienced a variety of different farms. After going through the MT program, she managed a sow farm where she loved working with and caring for the pigs on her farm. Since this video was made, Cheyenne's responsibilities and skills continued to grow as a manager which lead to her accepting a position on our human resources and recruiting team.

  • Am I qualified for a trainee program position?
    Trainees will be hired into a designated department based on skills, education, interest and company/departmental needs.
  • Are there opportunities for advancement?
    Throughout our connected food system, there are a variety of jobs and career pathways for individuals in the trainee program. The program is designed to offer you flexibility to build your own career and advance into positions that you are passionate about.
  • How long does it take to advance in the company?
    Once you start the trainee program, advancement is up to you. Seaboard Foods is looking for individuals with ambition, a positive attitude, a passion for the industry and a willingness to learn. How far and how quickly you advance at Seaboard Foods is in your hands.
  • How does mentorship work?
    You will have a formal mentor that will support you through your training. As you rotate through different areas of operations, you will have the ability to meet others in the company and learn from them, providing informal mentorship.
  • What is compensation like?
    You will start making a competitive, entry-level income with full benefits that start on day one and additional employee perks. There are also opportunities to make extra money through our employee referral program.
  • What are the benefits?

Trainees will get all the traditional benefits, like medical, dental, vision, retirement savings and paid time off. In addition, there are other perks like discounted pork products, employee referral bonuses, wellness programs, family events and discount programs, which vary by location. Benefits are effective on date of hire.
