Our connected food system doesn’t stop when we send pork products to market. As environmental stewards, we’re committed to minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability. Our renewable natural gas projects on our farms not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also generate renewable energy.
Seaboard Foods RNG
Seaboard Foods owns and operates several existing swine-derived and non-swine-derived RNG projects with additional RNG projects under construction, across Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. This includes covered anaerobic digester lagoons on our farms and biomethane upgrading facilities that generate ultra-low carbon intensity (CI) RNG. With a goal of producing 1 million MMBtu of RNG by 2025, we are committed to renewable energy resources and minimizing our environmental impact.
Seaboard Foods RNG harvests biomethane in covered anaerobic digester lagoons at existing farms where more than 1.3 million pigs produce manure. This process reduces GHG emissions, allowing us to generate reduction credits on the upgraded RNG with California LCFS CI scores expected to be as low as -407 (based on CA GREET model under review by the California Air Resources Board).

Harnessing the Benefits of Compressed Natural Gas
Seaboard Foods also supports the energy needs of our compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicles with a public filling station near our Guymon pork processing plant. The CNG station participates in the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) by partnering with a third-party RNG supplier.
