Operation BBQ Relief and Seaboard Foods partner for Day of Giving
About 200 served pulled pork lunch during Ability KC’s 23rd annual A Day at the Lake
(July 17, 2017) –
Operation BBQ Relief
® (OBR) and Seaboard Foods participated in a joint Day of Giving by preparing and serving a barbecue lunch for participants and volunteers at
’s 23rd annual
A Day at the Lake
event on Friday.
A Day at the Lake provides opportunities and volunteer assistance for individuals with disabilities to enjoy the freedom and accessibility of water sports for a day at Smithville Lake. As a midday break from the fun water activities, OBR volunteers and Seaboard Foods employees smoked and prepared PrairieFresh® Premium Pork for a pulled pork sandwich lunch for about 200 participants and volunteers attending A Day at the Lake.
Each year Kansas City-based Seaboard Foods employees choose a non-profit organization to support as part of the company’s Kansas City Metro Community Giving Program. This year Ability KC was one of four charities selected, and Seaboard Foods donated $7,500 for Ability KC in addition to providing lunch for Day at the Lake.
On a national basis,
PrairieFresh® Premium Pork
, a product of Seaboard Foods, is the official pork supplier of OBR that has a nationwide network of volunteers who quickly mobilize teams into areas where disaster disrupts communities.
Seaboard Foods also supports OBR’s Day of Giving when the group prepares and serves meals to non-profit organizations and other community groups throughout the country.
“We’re so honored to have the opportunity to work with two great Kansas City organizations. Both Ability KC and OBR provide much-needed services, and on behalf of Seaboard Foods and our dedicated employees, it’s truly an honor and inspiration to participate in A Day at the Lake by preparing and serving a delicious barbecue pork lunch with OBR,” says David Eaheart, Seaboard Foods director of communications and marketing.
Besides Ability KC, the Seaboard Foods employee-guided Kansas City Giving Community Program is supporting
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Mid-America
