Guymon, Okla., February 8, 2021 — As the Guymon High School basketball team works to advance in state rankings, so, too, will the football and soccer teams' scoreboard. The community is rallying to support the Tigers by replacing the current stadium scoreboard that was installed in 1995 and is no longer operating with a new digital scoreboard. Seaboard Foods announced today a $50,000 donation toward the purchase.DSC_0078-2.jpg

"This scoreboard will allow us to showcase the achievements of students and staff members throughout the school year. This scoreboard will be used by not only Guymon Public Schools, but by organizations throughout the community," Angela Rhoades, Superintendent of Guymon Public Schools.

The new scoreboard, valued at $350,000, is 15 foot by 45 foot and has the digital capability to display live video and audio during football games and will be operated and managed by students. Students will also be responsible for selling advertising to appear on the scoreboard during the games. Eventually, those advertising dollars will support school activities.

"It's important for Seaboard Foods to support our schools and community in any way possible," said Rick Sappington, general manager of Seaboard Foods' processing plant. "Having a state-of-the-art scoreboard will certainly add to the deep pride we already hold for our hometown football and soccer teams."

The digital billboard is scheduled for installation by the summer of 2021.
